Job Summary:
Provides safe transportation to our Grand Ronde Elder and Spouses for various activities and events.
Provides driving services for home delivered meals.
Essential Functions:
Provides safe transportation for Grand Ronde Elders and Spouses to but not limited to events, day trips, overnight trips, and Monday night meals.
Provides delivery service for the Meals on Wheels program through the Nutrition Program.
Provides assistance in the Kitchen at the Elder Center as needed.
Helps package up meals for meals on wheels service.
Assures vehicles are cleaned on a weekly basis.
Reports any concerns about elders to the Manager immediately.
Secures elders who are wheelchair bound appropriately with harnesses.
Transports elders to the elder meal site as needed.
Provides assistance to elders have been transported to events making sure they have what they need through the entire event.
Maintains proper fluid levels in vehicles used, and reports any mechanical problems to the proper person.
Documents all transportations of elders in the appropriate paperwork.
Documents any incidents immediately and contacts supervisor.
Works closely with the Manager to ensure all transportation needs are met.
Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education, Experience, and Licenses:
High School Diploma or GED,
2 years' experience working with the Native American Culture and elderly population.
OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Driving Requirements:
Must maintain a valid Oregon driver's license or obtain one upon hire, qualify for the Tribe's vehicle insurance, and provide proof of personal vehicle insurance.
Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:
2 years basic kitchen knowledge.
Ability to drive in various conditions and time of day.
Must have the ability to receive and understand direction and communicate with staff.
Must be dependable and team oriented.
Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture required.
Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.
Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.
Occasionally requires lifting of up to 50 pounds.
This position is often subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is frequently subject to outside environmental conditions.
Supports a safe work environment by performing all duties in accordance with Tribal safety policies and procedures, and Emergency Management Plan.
Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during emergencies.
Local travel is occasionally required.
Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
