Rare pair JBL C38 Baron speakers circa 1960 - $795 (Salem)

These are an original set with what was designated as an 002 load which consisted of the D123 12” full range drivers.
These are the horizontally oriented versions of the more common C36.
I needed to replace one of them and found another with close serial numbers in mint condition.
The original is SN 22043, the new one, 25454.
The mahogany veneered enclosures are ebonized black and the grill fabric has been replaced.
The original aluminum legs designed by George Nelson were missing so I turned 8 replacements out of hardwood with steel reinforced centers.
I had an original to pattern from.
I made the bottoms of the legs a bit beefier which I felt necessary.
These sound great.
I have a receiver set up and a turntable to demo them.
If you want a cd player you need to bring one along.
They serve as a cool and useful piece of functional furniture without being too large.
The dimensions are 24-1/4 tall with legs.
The legs are 5” long.
23-3/4 wide and 15-3/4 deep.
