Charles Limbert W2701 oak chair, circa 1906-1944.
Quarter-sawn oak with cane back and spring seat.
I’m told this is a very rare chair from a significant maker of the Arts & Crafts period.
This one is in need of significant repairs and will need the attention of a skilled woodworker or furniture maker to fix properly.
The left-back leg was separated from the frame.
Someone attempted a very amateurish repair that has also failed.
Judging from the yellowing of the glue used, I’m guessing the repair was probably made 30 or more years ago.
Please see the close-ups of the “repaired” area.
A large percentage of the joints are loose.
The spring seat cushion needs to be re-padded and recovered.
The cane backs are in decent condition.
Overall, other than the leg damage, it’s in pretty good shape.
Normally I wouldn't post something broken on Craigslist, but I believe this is significant enough to be worth saving (which is why it’s here and not on my burnpile!) If you have the skills, or know someone who does, this would make a very rewarding restoration project.
Pickup only in Falls City.
