” *Scope of Position:* Youth Development Professionals (YDPs) are responsible for overseeing the delivery of targeted youth development programming in one or more of the five (5) program areas: Education & Career Development; Health & Life Skills; Character & Leadership; Sports Fitness & Recreation; and Arts & innovation (STEAM).
YDPs are expected to implement targeted programming along with ensuring a safe environment for the youth.
*Education and Work Experience:* * High school diploma or GED required.
Preferred some college or actively working towards a degree in a related field.
* Prior experience in youth development, preferably with Boys & Girls Clubs.
* Solid working knowledge of youth development principles and guidance techniques, including experience working directly with youths.
*Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:* * Mandatory current CPR and First Aid Certification – can be acquired through work training.
* Food Handler’s Card – can be acquired through work training.

*Program Development and Implementation* * Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities that help youth achieve academic success, develop good character, and lead healthy lifestyles.
* Monitor services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the branch at all times.
* Prepare daily activity reports.
*Other Essential job Responsibilities* * Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly branch staff meetings.
* Participate in special programs, events, and other unit activities as assigned.
* Consult with parents/guardians concerning member and branch issues.
* Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues and opportunities, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
* Act as a front-line staff.
* General safety and supervision of youth.
* Ensure safety and cleanliness of facilities, including maintaining functionality of equipment.

The employee will work on several projects at once with interruptions and noise from ringing telephones, walk-in traffic, multiple deadlines, and competing/changing priorities.
Will be exposed to a range of temperatures inside and outside of the building, heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, humidity, dust.
