The Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Revenue Agent 3 position.
We are looking for talented, detail-oriented individuals to join our Collections Division in the Tax Collections Northern Field Unit.
This position is headquartered in our Salem office; however, the successful candidate may be eligible for in state hybrid work.
Hybrid work consists of performing duties onsite in a standard office environment and working remotely.
If you possess language skills in Spanish, you are encouraged to apply!! We offer bilingual differential pay, which is an extra 5% of the employee’s base pay and is contingent on passing the required language test.
Please note, bilingual language skills are encouraged, but not required for these positions.

What You Will Be Doing Below is a sampling of job duties.

Performs advanced collection actions using established policy and procedures.
Conduct field investigations.
Appear in court as a witness for the State.
Gather documents as evidence to help prepare cases for hearings, appeals, and court.
Assists the public in person, by correspondence, and by telephone to answer in-depth questions regarding collection procedures of various tax programs, and options available to taxpayers to resolve their tax liabilities.
Initiates and conducts searches and investigations to locate taxpayers.
Negotiates and establishes payment agreements based on the taxpayer’s ability to pay.

This is What You Need to Qualify Two years experience of direct collections of past due accounts which included at least one year of field collections experience.
Collection experience must have been your primary responsibility, not incidental to other major duties, and have included: tracing and contacting debtors and conducting field investigations; authority to initiate liens, garnishments, wage assignments, etc.
; examination of business management and accounting records; determining liability and delinquency charges; collecting by telephone, letter, or personal contact; and negotiating payment plans and partial settlements.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS Some positions in this class may require the possession of an Oregon driver's license valid for the class of vehicles used by the employing agencies.
The ideal candidate will possess the following desired skills and attributes: Attention to detail.
Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment, decision making skills, and problem-solving skills.
Works independently without direct supervision.
Self-motivated and able to meet numerous deadlines with frequent interruptions.
