Your Role With Us:
As a vascular sonographer you will provide direct and indirect care to patients undergoing procedures in the Cardiovascular Non-Invasive Services department, and throughout the hospital.
Core Functions:
Provides direct and indirect care to patients undergoing procedures in the Cardiovascular Non-Invasive Services Department and other areas in the hospital
Performs carotid, arterial, and venous vascular ultrasound procedures.
Able to perform abdominal and transcranial Doppler procedures or be able to perform within 6 months of moving into this position.
Conducts testing under the indirect supervision of a vascular physician
Positions patient to maximize effectiveness of image and minimize patient discomfort
Adjusts equipment controls and modifies images during the exam to demonstrate anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, and/or pathology accurately
Operates equipment in m-mode, 2D, and spectral Doppler and color Doppler techniques
Prioritizes and coordinates patient care and/or services with team members
Participates in the assessment and development of department and hospital related projects

Background/Expertise:
High school diploma or equivalent
Graduate from an accredited school of noninvasive cardiovascular technology/ultrasound OR three years recent experience and at least 800 vascular procedures performed
Bachelors degree preferred
Recent experience as a Vascular Sonographer in a hospital based, cardiovascular non-invasive services department preferred
BLS certification required
RVT or RVS certification or eligible for RVT or RVS certification and completion within six months of hire required
Oregon Practice of Sonography license (OBMI) required
